How does my child qualify to attend The Sonder Academy?
Your child must have an ASD diagnosis from a medical doctor. In order to be accepted into the academy, the diagnosis must be from within the year.
What ages do you accept?
We accept ages 2 to 22.
What does your tuition cost?
The cost of tuition is determined by your child’s assessment. The Academic Achievement Accessible (AAA), Gardiner/PLSA, or McKay scholarships are accepted. We do not accept out of pocket payments.
What if my child does not have a scholarship?
The Sonder Academy can direct you to scholarship information to help you apply.
What insurance do you accept?
We accept Aetna, Cigna, Tri-care, United, and most forms of Medicaid. If your insurance is not listed, please feel free to contact us and ask if it will be added.
What if I don’t hold the correct insurance?
Unfortunately, we do not accept any out-of-network insurance.
What types of therapy do you offer?
We offer ABA therapy. You may outsource other therapies.
How many students are in your school?
We have roughly 80 students.
What is the ratio in the classroom?
Classroom ratios vary from 3:1 to 1:1 students to RBTs. Specific classroom sizes vary.
How are your classrooms separated?
We separate our students based on academic and behavior levels.
Do we have a waitlist?
Yes, we currently have a waitlist. There is no set length. It is dependent upon student and classrooms needs and availability of staff.
How long is the school year?
The Sonder Academy runs all year long with breaks during the course of the year.
How long is the school day?
School runs from 8:15 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. We offer after care from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m.
Do we provide lunches?
No, all students are expected to bring their lunches every day. Additionally, we cannot heat or refrigerate any lunches that a student brings.
Do we have extracurricular activities?
No, but we do offer fun activities during the day like water play, field trips, and fire day.
Do we offer any transportation?
No, your child must be picked up and dropped off every day or have self-arranged external transportation.
How can the parents get involved?
We have required parent trainings as well as the Sonder Parent Association (SPA).
Do you offer tours of the facility?
Yes. In order to schedule a tour, please first go to our admissions page and fill out the pre-admissions form.
